Once you have decided to motorise, the next question is which style of blind suits each room. There is no single right answer — it depends on the light, the use of the room and the look you are after. Here is how we usually guide our clients.
Wooden blinds — warmth and character
Real-wood slats in basswood, abachi or oak bring warmth and texture, and tilt to give precise control over light and privacy. They suit living rooms, studies and dining rooms where you want an architectural, natural finish. With over a hundred finishes available and quiet motorisation, they are as practical as they are handsome.
Roman blinds — soft and tailored
Roman blinds fold into neat, upholstered pleats and bring fabric softness to a room. They are a favourite for bedrooms and lounges, especially with a blackout or thermal lining. Because they are made to measure in your chosen fabric, they are the easiest way to tie a blind into an existing colour scheme.
Roller blinds — clean and practical
The roller blind is the quiet workhorse: compact, reliable and available in everything from sheer solar screens to full blackout. It is ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, offices and anywhere you want minimal lines. Our motors handle fabric widths of up to six metres, so even a wide glazed wall can be covered by a single, seamless blind rather than several panels.
A quick room-by-room guide
- Living room: wooden blinds for character, or solar-screen rollers for big windows.
- Bedroom: Roman or roller blinds with blackout lining for sleep and insulation.
- Kitchen & bathroom: easy-clean roller blinds in moisture-tolerant fabrics.
- Home office: solar-screen rollers to cut glare on screens while keeping the view.
- Wide or tall glazing: extra-large rollers, or coupled blinds operated together.
Don't forget the motor
Whichever style you choose, the motor matters. Battery motors are perfect for a clean retrofit with no wiring; hard-wired motors suit new builds and renovations. All of them can run on a schedule, respond to sun sensors and connect to voice control. We will recommend the right drive for each window during your survey — and fit and programme the lot.
